Science proves that your mood in the morning impacts your entire day. That's why this journal is designed to boost your mood first thing, so you can become a happier, smarter, and more positive person all day. The fact is, happier people get sh*t done.

Great way to map out the day! I love Mel Robbins and she is amazing. The 5 Second Rule was a great way to get me off my but. I like the journal because its interactive versus me having to fill up empty pages with my thoughts, plans or goals. I like the fact also it takes pretty much what we all ned to map out a day and then breaks it into chunks. Also its not dated so you can miss a day and pick back up. My only suggestion is that the would it is bound make it hard to bend backwards so you have to leave both pages lying flat which puts the spiral in the way. Its also not meant to be a journal for really long periods, its probably got about 60 actually days to do then you would need to order another one.A planner for the easily distracted I am an “all over the place” entrepreneur who has tried several journal/planner methods only to get bored with them after a week. Still, I hoped to add a little more structure to my days.I’m a big fan of Mel’s methods and no BS style so I decided her journal might be worth checking out. I’ve now been using it for a month (which is already saying something - that’s a new record for me!)The way it’s laid out definitely seems to be tapping into my unconscious. At first the questions/ structure seemed a little obvious and maybe a tad redundant. Over time I’m realizing is that redundancy is training my brain to circle back around to what is important when I get off track. After wasting money on other planners I was nervous to buy this one but I have already made my money back in time-well-spent!A GAMECHANGER Don't panic. This journal IS in stock. I ordered mine in mid-Jan and got it within a week. Mel also posts updates re: stock on her FB and Instagram. This is without a doubt the most EFFECTIVE journal I've ever used. I haven't hit every day on this journal since I've had it but it's nonetheless impacted my daily life.A lot of modern productivity methods (e.g. GTD) measure success by the number of tasks you check off in a day. This fails because modern life presents us with a paralyzing amount of options, then FOMO leads us to chip away daily at Columns A through F. As a result, we make very little headway on one specific column. Over time, this starts to erode our sense of what's important, as we've been giving each column equal attention. If you're like me, you find yourself doing a lot in a day and going to be bed feeling empty. And then, if you're still like me, you burn out. For a loooong time. You wake up wondering where all that time went and what your purpose in life is. When the hamster stops running the wheel, he remembers he's in a cage.Annie Dillard wrote: How we spend our days is of course how we spend our lives. This journal can help you redirect your energy to the things that really matter to you. Here are my notes and observations after having it for a week:1. It takes me less than two minutes to fill out in the morning. Even if your brain is fuzzy, it gets the juices flowing because it has you fill in the date and place. Next are blanks that establish your state of mind ("Today I feel..."), putting you IN THE PRESENT MOMENT where you are honest with yourself. It follows up with a plan of action ("To feel more energized I can...."). Right away, you have something you can do - use Mel's 5 Second rule to bust through any resistance. This momentum sets you up to fill out the rest of the journal without overthinking.2. You list a top project for the day, directing your focus to ONE area of your life. This is the gamechanger. Once you write this down, the other stuff automatically feels less pressing and stressful. Why? Because you're not giving the pile of dishes in the sink and the afternoon stafff meeting the same importance as growing your business or writing your book or your relationships.3. Your Top Project for the day is further bolstered by listing why the project is important to you. If your heart's not in the project, you'll see it on the page. Next to this is a section to write down a small action you can take to move forward and a section for gratitude. Now you have something actionable to do right away AND you're feeling good because you've reminded yourself of what's awesome in your life.4. In the corner, there is a section where you schedule when you'll stop working. This puts the pressure on, in a good way. A lot of us, esp. chronic procrastinators, tend to access Flow more readily when we're under the gun, like when we cram for a test or, you know, the first few times you used the Pomodoro technique and it worked. Rather than default to the workday 5 or 6, you might try playing with stop times. By setting a stop time, you're scheduling your free time. My free time has felt richer since starting this.5. The next page has a gridded section for brain dump - great for recording your flashes of brilliance, quotes, lists etc. And beside it, a small planning space that runs from 6am to 8pm where you can fill in a schedule. Note: there is NO CALENDAR in this journal! It works for me because I keep all my scheduled stuff in Google Calendar anyway and pencil in what's relevant. This also means you won't have huge chunks of unusable pages (that might make you feel like a failure!) if you fall off the journal for a few weeks.6. The Confidence Corner issues challenges to get you out of your comfort zone. It suggests activities that could become powerful new habits, like taking a cold shower, organizing your space, calling relatives, going for a walk with a friend, and journaling. All doable; all GOOD FOR YOU. There is a follow-up on the next day that asks you to reflect on whether you did or didn't do the challenge and why. This is like having Mel in your pocket, coaching you.7. The journal itself is nice and sturdy. It lays flat so you can keep it open all day. There are instructions on how to use it at the very front and a few pages of free space in the back for drawing or whatever you need. It's very no-frills and THIS IS GOOD. The simplicity provides just enough structure that it doesn't feel stifling but freeing. If you write in it every day, it will last you a few months. I don't use it daily and it could very well last me a year. You don't have to shoehorn your life into the journal's calendar, it works with you. Love this.Personal changes I've noticed since I started using this journal:- I find myself more focused and less inclined to multitask.- Goal-setting is easier because I'm actively prioritizing my life every day.- What matters to me and what I want to do with my life is becoming clearer every day. Dudes, this is huge. Every day, this journal has me check in with myself and stay aware of what I want to spend my life doing. My intuition is back, baby!- Increased mindfulness and awareness of goals even on days I don't use the journal. And I always pick it up again.- Resistance is still there, but that's what the 5 Second Rule is for. Keep working it.This journal is not for everyone but it might be the one for YOU, especially if all others have failed you. It's helped me break through my stuck-ness and burn out and take charge of my life again. So fellow desperados and dreamers, give it a shot! Re-commit to the great work of your life!

Title: Hamilton Pdf The Revolution

Winner, 2017 APA Audie Awards - Audiobook of the Year

Lin-Manuel Miranda's groundbreaking musical, Hamilton, is as revolutionary as its subject: the poor kid from the Caribbean who fought the British, defended the Constitution, and helped to found the United States. Fusing hip-hop, pop, R&B, and the best traditions of theater, this once-in-a-generation show broadens the sound of Broadway, reveals the storytelling power of rap, and claims our country's origins for a diverse new generation.

Hamilton: The Revolution gives listeners an unprecedented insight into both revolutions, from the only two writers able to provide it. Miranda, along with Jeremy McCarter, a cultural critic and theater artist who was involved in the project from its earliest stages - "since before this was even a show," according to Miranda - traces its development from an improbable performance at the White House to its landmark opening night on Broadway six years later. In addition, Emmy and Gold Globe-winning actor Mariska Hargitay lends her voice to the audiobook, and Miranda reads more than 200 funny, revealing footnotes for his award-winning libretto, the full text of which is included in the PDF with this audiobook.

The audiobook does more than tell the surprising story of how a Broadway musical became a national phenomenon: It demonstrates that America has always been renewed by the brash upstarts and brilliant outsiders, the men and women who don't throw away their shots.

"Mariska, in addition to being the number-one fan of the show, represents, to me, much of what Hamilton is about - tough, smart, and New York. She's an essential part of this city; it feels only right for her to narrate the story." (Lin-Manuel Miranda)

A stunning creation, but I knew that before I even saw it... This book is a thing of beauty! I ordered it early and it - literally - just arrived at my front door. Giddy with excitement, I pulled back the packaging tab and inside was this glorious tome. The design is exquisite, the words flow as beautifully as the pictures from page to page: lyrics, insights and anecdotes galore - nothing has been overlooked. To be truthful, I came back to Amazon to order another as a gift, but there don't seem to be any available. So glad I ordered early! Looking forward to enveloping myself in this Hamilton word and pictures story, that is until I actually get to see the show... A girl can dream :-)Edited to add: and the dream is almost a reality... Used this gorgeous book to deliver surprise tickets to my niece who turned 18 today. I'm in New York and tonight's the night! AND, Miranda wins the Pulitzer on the same day. It's been a bit of a day!!!Don't buy the Kindle version. It is not in ... Don't buy the Kindle version. It is not in Kindle format; it's just photocopies of double columned pages that doesn't fit the screen and is very hard to read. You have to manually enlarge each page separately if you want to read it.A companion book that soothes some of the pain of never being able to see the show A few days back, I wrote a piece on my blog to try to explain how much I love Lin-Manuel Miranda's astonishing musical Hamilton, despite the fact that I've never seen it, and only enjoyed the amazing soundtrack. It's not a love that's died down over the past few weeks - indeed, it's only continued to grow - so it's no surprise that I picked up Hamilton: A Revolution, which tells the story of the writing of the musical, as well as providing Miranda's annotations for all of the show's songs and lyrics.Hamilton: A Revolution is unabashedly a book that's written to capitalize on the show's popularity, as well as the difficulty in seeing it. Filled with pictures of the production, the cast, the props, and more, the book provides a bit of soothing balm for those of us out in the rest of America who probably won't ever get to see the show on Broadway, and definitely not while Miranda is still playing the lead role. The fact that the book alternates between short essays and songs from the show allows the pictures to nicely complement the text at all times, giving the reader a sense of how the show might play out, and giving us the chance to pair images with the songs that so many of us already know by heart. More than that, though, they give you a sense of the care that went into the staging of the show; from the set to the costuming, from the insanely detailed props to the intricate stage layout, the book conveys the fact that the show is every bit as carefully crafted and intricately constructed as the album and the songs. The essays only serve to back this up, too. By and large, the essays serve as a chronological tracking of the birth of the show, beginning with Miranda's initial songs, moving through the famous White House performance, and following the story all the way through the premiere and beyond. Meanwhile, the book's structure - the aforementioned alternating between songs and essays - allows some essays to pair more directly with certain songs, focusing on key roles, casting decisions, historical craft, and more. It all comes together to make something more than your usual "behind the scenes" book, instead giving you a rich portrait of the show, the history, the key players, and more. But let's be clear: the main draw for many people (myself included) are the lyrics and annotations by Miranda. Even with all the time I've spent on Genius reading the show's annotations can't replace the glee of reading the lyrics in a beautifully made book, and getting to savor all of Miranda's wonderful prose - the wordplay, the historical allusions, the shout-outs to old school rap and Broadway staples, all of it. And better still are Miranda's annotations, which eschew the things I already knew in favor of personal commentary, silly asides, mentions of his favorite parts of the show, and more. Rather than just being a director's commentary sort of thing, the annotations feel more personal and engaging, giving me the sense once again that Miranda isn't just unfairly brilliant; he's also funny, engaging, thoughtful, and incredibly personable.I could also mention how beautiful the book is - not just the pictures, but the beautiful cover, the intentionally "ancient" feel that makes it feel like a Revolutionary War tome - but really, here's the thing. Do you love Hamilton? If the answer is "yes," then you'll really love this. If the answer is "no"...well, what's wrong with you, then? (Acceptable answers include "I haven't heard it" and...well, that's about it.)

Calvin And Hobbes Tenth Anniversary Book ) School & Library Binding – October 1, 1995 PDF Free Download

Calvin And Hobbes Tenth Anniversary Book (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition) (Calvin and Hobbes (Pb)) School & Library Binding – October 1, 1995
Author: Visit ‘s Bill Watterson Page ID: 0785791639

.com Review

Now that Bill Watterson has retired from drawing syndicated cartoons, the only way to get our Calvin and Hobbes fixes is through his book collections. The 10th Anniversary Book is particularly notable, because in addition to getting some of his most wonderful cartoons, we also gain a sense of Watterson as a person.

Approximately one-tenth of the book contains essays about matters great and small–from cartooning to life–and stories about the inspiration behind some of his greatest strips. Not surprisingly, Watterson shines through as a being of considerable integrity, and the cartoons gain in depth thanks to his commentary. And, of course, the cartoons in the other 90% of the book are alternately side-splitting hilarious or touching. Happy Anniversary, Bill, and good luck with whatever it is you are doing now!

Review

No one has captured children’s world view and sense of imagination in cartoon strip form as well as Watterson. Nor applied it so strikingly to comment on adult life and attitudes or the general absurdity of the world in which we live… Much will strike a chord and raise a knowing smile at their perception, but above all, they are very, very funny. When I bought this "Calvin and Hobbes" book I had a hard time getting into it at first. The first eighteen or nineteen pages contain more prose and philosophy than it does art, and I’ve always bought "Calvin and Hobbes" books for the humor. I really felt as though the philosophy and description that Bill Watterson was describing was a distraction, at first. But the more I read, the more I started to get into "Calvin and Hobbes" from Watterson’s perspective. Looking at the evolution of "Calvin and Hobbes" as described by Watterson, and his travails with syndicators, I have a new perspective on what it takes to create a strip like "Calvin and Hobbes."

The art and the strips are outstanding, as with the other "Calvin and Hobbes" collections, but this time we also get to see Watterson’s perspectives on various characters. Some of Watterson’s observations about various characters are as funny as the strips themselves. Watterson makes a rather succinct comment regarding Moe the bully. I’ll leave you to read the comment, but it’s hilarious.

Watterson offers comments on all the major characters along with key details about each. Moe, of course, being a simple moron bully, requires minimal description, but the other key characters have a history associated with them. Watterson provided a bit of a compliment to his wife in his description of Susie Derkins. I also agree with Watterson that I suspect that Calvin does have a mild crush on Susie. Watterson offers nearly a half a page of comments on both Calvin and Hobbes that are interesting reading.

I also enjoyed the selection of various strips over ten years of the strip, showing the evolution of the strip and the characters.
The announcement last November that Bill Watterson would be retiring his comic strip Calvin and Hobbes at the end of the year should not have surprised anyone–at least, anyone who has read the recently released The Calvin and Hobbes Tenth Anniversary Book. Like Gary Larsen’s Pre-History of The Far Side, this volume provides a retrospective collection selected by the author, with notes on the origin and evolution of his creation. Both cartoonists annotated the books themselves, explaining the writing process and the business of cartooning. Larsen, though, as happy with his medium–his retirement was a factor of creative burnout rather than frustration with the limitations of the comics page of today’s newspaper. That frustration with the four panel strip was the reason for Berke Breathed’s early retirement, and is quite likely the reason for Watterson’s as well. Watterson believes in the comic as a real art form–and in his hands it often was–but the dynamics of the business, both the physical limitations on the drawing and the way the economics is split between artist and newspaper with a syndicate go-between, restricted the full expression of his art.
The Tenth Anniversary Book is not a depressing collection, although it is quite serious in its examination of the ten years of the strip. Watterson reveled in his creation, and the work that he produced was always of the utmost quality. This collection has some of the most joyful moments of the past–Spaceman Spiff is there, as well as Stupendous Man, the Replicator, and the dreaded Babysitter. The amazing thing isn’t that Watterson is retiring, but that he could spend ten years producing such work as fresh and imaginative as his debut.

This book is a good starting point for parents of a child with ODD. The book is easy to read and offers lots of useful advice. Some of the suggestions are vague, however and I take exception to the idea that seeking counselling should be a "last resort."

I have no idea who this "author" is. Not only is the content juvenile, self evident, and repetitive, the writing is appalling. It is more like a bad blog post, one which I don’t think would get much following. A complete waste of money.

This book is very practical and has a lot of great advice. Be warned, however, that it would be important to read the entire book before implementing some of the methods outlined in the stories. The authors goes on to give sound advice on how to handle conflicts and tough situations that can become daily battles at home and school. Along the wonderful help of our family counselor, this book has made a real difference in helping us to regain control of our own home. Joseph Stenson does a remarkable job of giving parents a glimpse of the mistaken ideas that guide the behavior of defiant children. Hopefully, parents will stop blaming themselves and recognize that these children act out due to their distorted sense of reality. I was surprised to learn some things I never knew even though I am an experienced parent. The book is easy to read and understand and I love the real life examples the author gives.

Although this book is not a cure-all, it certainly is required reading for all that are dealing with this devastating problem.

‘Don’t leave home without STREETWISE.’ —The New York Times

‘STREETWISE is an absolute travel essential.’ —Travel + Leisure Magazine

‘In a strange city, your sense of direction is only as good as the map in your hands. The best maps to carry are published by STREETWISE.’ —Chicago Daily Herald

About the Author

STREETWISE® is the first map to be designed with modern graphics and is the originator of the laminated, accordion-fold map format. We’ve set the standard that every map company has imitated but never duplicated. Our mission is to make you feel comfortable, to make you feel safe in a place where you’ve never been before and to enable you to experience a familiar place more fully.

The company was founded in 1984 by Michael Brown, who had been in international publishing for many years, setting up subsidiaries for textbook publishers. In the 1970’s, Brown traveled extensively throughout Africa, India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Brown would take a large paper map, cut out the city center, folded it up and slip it into his pocket, thus preventing him from looking like a tourist in areas where discretion is the better part of travel. This was his tool for surviving.

After many years on the road, Brown settled back in New York and decided to start his own business, based on the adaptations he had made to maps in his travels. His goal was to give someone the ability to navigate easily in unfamiliar terrain.

He started with a new map format: the accordion fold. Such a simple idea, but at the time it was revolutionary. No more struggling to fold an awkward, oversized paper map. This new format would enable the user to blend in like a native, instead of stick out like a tourist. Brown then added lamination to ensure that the map would be a lasting tool.

More important than the format was the design of the map itself. It had to be a map that not only succeeded above and beyond any map he had used, but was esthetically appealing as well. The look of it had to be as striking as the functionality. Color was introduced in a way that was never seen before in a map – vivid purple for water, soothing gray for the background of street grids, gold to highlight elements of the map. Clarity, conciseness and convenience in a very stylish package.

Building the business was a 24 hour job. Brown sold the maps during the day, zipping around Manhattan making deliveries on his Harley Davidson. At night he packed the orders and did the design work. More titles were added, each title requiring months of research and design.

Today, STREETWISE® produces over 130 titles for major destinations, regions and countries throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Europe, the United Kingdom and Asia. We have grown from the back of a motorcycle to selling millions of maps around the world.

Yet each title is still painstakingly researched and updated. STREETWISE® is one of the only, if not THE only map company that conducts research by walking or driving an area to ensure accuracy. After all, what good is the map if what you hold in your hands doesn’t match what you see on the street sign? This lengthy fact checking results in superior accuracy; in effect, we’ve done the work, now you have the adventure.

In the end, it’s not about the map, it’s about getting out and finding your own authentic experience wherever you go. It’s about being in a city or a region and discovering things that you never thought you would find. You can do this if you have confidence and you have confidence if you have a great map. STREETWISE® is the great map that you need.

I recently moved back to Chicago and needed a map as a refresher. I was very disappointed when I received this map. It’s great and handy, unfortunately it didn’t cover the city. The map didn’t show Bucktown or anything West but included all of the Southside. I was looking at moving into an area that I didn’t have a map of!!! If you want to see any of Bucktown, Wickerpark or Logan Square do not buy this map.

Great series of maps for residents and tourists. Very detailed but extremely compact (though still legible), laminated, folds easily. It can be used quite subtly, so you don’t look lost (giving the apperance of a goofy out-of-towner, or worse, a safety issue.)

Chicago Streetwise features:

-Main map (north to Lakeview, south to Hyde park, west to Ukranian Village)

-Downtown map

-neighboring counties road map

-Hyde Park/Kenwood detail

-CTA/Metra train lines

-street and landmark index

On the main map, it identifies train stops (but unfortunately no busstop info, which may be helpful), street numbers, various important buildings (landmarks, colleges, some hotels, etc.).

If you are planning on visitng Chicago, or have just moved to the area, look no further than this map.

make sure you have the newest version of this map. the city changes so quickly that older maps become irrelevant. i walked the city with my boyfriend and the 2008 streetwise and we loved it. very easy to read and the 3-Ds of buildings was so helpful in a big, congested city. one time we thought we were lost but then looked at the map and realized that we were at the back side of the Chicago Museum of Art. we would have gone back to our hotel if we hadn’t been able to figure out what street the entrance was on.

excellent map, only one with 3-D building details and current public transit info. get the 2008 edition, it is the most current of all the maps per the concierege at our hotel.

As a person who actually lives in Manhattan, I speak from the perspective of someone who is looking at the information to see if it is accurate to my experience and if it is easy to understand. As always, DK Eyewitness Travel Guides come through with shining colors. This series of travel guides are my absolute favorites. They are arranged in logical order (in this case by museums, theatre district, historical sites, etc.) and have enormous numbers of beautiful pictures to correspond with the text. Your interest is piqued by the colorful pictures and you are given all the pertinent information such as hours of operation, cost of tickets, or meals, and ways to reach your destination. Maps are always included using all of the various forms of transportation that are available in this magnificent city. No matter what you destination may be, DK Eyewitness Guides are always the best. This is the 2015 New York City Guide and as expected exceeds all possible hopes for any visitor to our wonderful town. Don’t leave home without it!

Great guide. Wonderfully detailed and beautifully illustrated. I used it more for research ahead of my trip rather than an actual carry around guide – though I did pack it and consulted it frequently from my hotel room. I’ve found books to be better for pre-trip research because they include EVERYTHING for one to filter through. With online research you tend to zero in on just the big attractions and miss some of the most interesting hidden gems because you just don’t know they’re there.

A nice feature of this guide is the tear-out laminated fold up map which I actually folded in half again and kept in my pocket for all my travels about town – it helped extend my smart-phone battery life. It shows every street and landmark yet it’s just big enough for older eyes. I only wish the subway portion of the map included Brooklyn. All in all the book served me well and I highly recommend it.

I received one of these as a gift back in 1995. It was my NYC Bible. It taught me almost everything I needed to know that I used for almost ten years of spending time in the city four times a year. Not having been in the city for ten years now, I wanted to make myself up to date and refresh my memory on several things, so I bought the 2015 edition. These DK books just keep getting better! If you’re planning a first time trip ANYWHERE there is a DK book for, BUY IT!!! They are very smartly put together, and durable as all getout. I’m sure you can use the large foldout map in the back cover at least a hundred times before it starts to show any wear. Every aspect, from the physical to the informational, of these books are top drawer. They are, simply put, beautiful books.
