Acclaimed for its clear, friendly style, excellent illustrations, leading author team, and compelling theme of exploration, Neuroscience: Exploring the Brain, 4e takes a fresh, contemporary approach to the study of neuroscience, emphasizing the biological basis of behavior. The authors’ passion for the dynamic field of neuroscience is evident on every page, engaging students and helping them master the material.
In just a few years, the field of neuroscience has been transformed by exciting new technologies and an explosion of knowledge about the brain. The human genome has been sequenced, sophisticated new methods have been developed for genetic engineering, and new methods have been introduced to enable visualization and stimulation of specific types of nerve cells and connections in the brain. The new Fourth Edition has been fully updated to reflect these and other rapid advances in the field, while honoring its commitment to be student-friendly with striking new illustrations, additional animations, and an unparalleled array of online resources.
I like the book I like the book, its very easy to read and I love neuro. However, I'm a little disappointed in the condition the book came..I've rented many books from Amazon and this is worst condition I've have seen. I have to order a cover sleeve so that the cover doesn't fall apart by the end of the semester.Superb textbook! This is an excellent textbook! It is actually a pleasure to read. I have read (or attempted to read) other neuroscience textbooks, but have found them boring and at times confusing. This book is neither, though it contains more detailed and in depth information than the other texts did. The authors have written a text that makes complex material easily understandable. The text is enhanced by what the authors describe as "special interest" boxes "designed to illuminate the relevance of the material to the students' everyday lives", "brain food" boxes that contain more advanced material for students who want to understand the material in more depth than might be presented in an introductory course, and "path of discovery" boxes, which provide fascinating histories of how the discoveries were made and make the text more relevant and meaningful. There are also figures illustrating the material throughoutthe text.Learning from this textbook has been easy because it has been based on understanding, whereas with other texts I struggled with memorizing what felt like disparate facts (at least to me). It could be that this is because I came to this textbook with some rudimentary knowledge that I did not have when approaching some of the other texts, but I don't think so. I think that learning has been so mucheasier because of the way the authors have presented the material. It almost reads like a mystery novel.I picked this book up two days ago and have had trouble pulling myself away from it. This is the best neuroscience textbook I have ever encountered. Many thanks to the authors!Used for Neuroanatomy. Bought this for a neuroanatomy class. It is a very easy to read book, and has a great way of explaining complicated topics. I found that it was also an easy book to study, as the chapter is broken down into relevant sections to make it easy to make flashcards on each concept. I don't think I would have just bought this for fun to read, but it was a great book for a very difficult class.
